North Shore Concrete Problems We Fix Every Week
Most of the concrete we replace here did not fail because of the concrete. It failed because of what happened before the truck arrived.
A driveway that has given up
Cracked, spalling, settling at the joints. Most failed driveways in this area were poured thin over bare clay with no steel in them.
What we do We dig out the failed base, compact crushed stone, and set a #4 rebar grid before a single yard goes down.
Crews that pour and disappear
High-volume outfits book three jobs a week. Prep gets rushed, the stamping window gets missed, and nobody is there when the finish matters.
What we do Arthur takes one project at a time and is on-site for the whole pour, cure, and seal.
Pavers that never stop needing work
Weeds in every joint, settling where the base washed out, and re-leveling every few seasons. The look costs you every year you own it.
What we do Stamped concrete gives you the same stone look as one reinforced slab with far less upkeep.
Not knowing what survives a Tennessee winter
Freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salt destroy unsealed and under-reinforced concrete. Most homeowners get no real guidance on it.
What we do We spec mix, joints, and sealer for freeze-thaw durability, then keep you on a reseal cycle.

Pouring on North Shore's Mature Streets
Our shop is on Dallas Rd, which means North Shore is effectively our home turf. Frazier Avenue, Hill City, and the streets climbing toward Stringer's Ridge are a five-minute run, so we can be on site at first light to check forms before the truck rolls. Weekend crowds around Coolidge Park and the Walnut Street Bridge push us toward weekday morning pours for anything near Frazier Ave, when the street is clear enough to hold the mixer's spot.
These streets were laid out long before modern trucks. Parking is tight, the pavement is narrow, and mature trees hang low over the curb. We scout the approach in advance, coordinate with neighbors when the mixer needs curb space, and use shorter chute runs or a pump when a rear patio is hard to reach. Root systems get hand-dug rather than machine-torn, which protects the trees people on this side of the river care about.
Century-Old Homes, Modern Slabs
North Shore is full of early-1900s bungalows and four-squares with original front walks that have heaved, cracked, and settled over a hundred winters. Replacing them well means matching the character of the house, not just pouring gray concrete.
A hand-tooled Ashlar slate or cobblestone stamp with an antiquing release reads as old stone against brick and clapboard, and a picture-frame border ties a new walk into an existing porch line. For driveways, the original strips were often poured four inches thick over bare clay. We excavate, compact a proper crushed-stone base, set a #4 rebar grid, and pour a 4,000 PSI slab that will outlive the one it replaced.
Many of these homes also have daylight basements and rear terraces where acid staining turns a dull utility floor into finished living space.
